May 22nd marks one of the most iconic dates in the entire history of Bitcoin. On that day back in 2010, a programmer named Laszlo Hanyecz made what would become the most legendary transaction in the Bitcoin world, he paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas. At the time, it seemed like a quirky experiment. In hindsight, it was proof of something profound: Bitcoin works. Bitcoin is money.
Every year, the global Bitcoin community comes together to celebrate this special moment, not because of the pizzas, but because of what they represented. That transaction was the first real-world commercial use of Bitcoin. It demonstrated, in the most human and relatable way possible, that this technology could function as a medium of exchange. No bank.No middleman. Just two people and a peer-to-peer transaction that changed the world.
Bitcoin Beach Pizza Day 2026
Last Friday, we had the pleasure of celebrating Bitcoin Pizza Day 2026 right here at the Bitcoin Beach office, and it was nothing short of legendary.
We opened our doors and invited the community in. What followed was an evening full of good energy, great conversations, and of course - plenty of pizza.
What made this night truly special was the mix of people who showed up. Old friends and familiar faces who have been part of this journey from early on, alongside brand new members discovering the Bitcoin Beach community for the first time. That combination,veterans and newcomers sharing the same table, is exactly what Bitcoin is all about. A community without barriers, open to everyone.
With a live DJ setting the vibe,the night had a real celebration feel. Music, laughter, slices of pizza, and conversations that ranged from deep Bitcoin philosophy to just catching up with people you genuinely care about. These are the moments that remind you why you're here.
More Than Just Pizza
It's easy to look at Bitcoin Pizza Day as a fun annual tradition. And it is. But it's also much more than that.
That first pizza purchase in 2010 was not a mistake, it was a milestone. It showed the world that Bitcoin is not just a speculative asset to be stored and forgotten. Bitcoin is money. It can be used, spent, and exchanged, just like Laszlo did over 15 years ago.And that is precisely the message we carry forward at Bitcoin Beach every single day.
We believe in Bitcoin as a currency. We believe in using it, not just holding it. And events like this one are a living reminder of that philosophy.
